What is Leadership Wayne?

The Leadership Wayne Program provides individuals an annual opportunity to invest in themselves via personal discovery, interpersonal development, and leadership training. Research has shown that the communities, businesses, and organizations who invest in their people are the ones best positioned for growth, prosperity, and exceptional quality of life. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to sponsor their employees’ tuition and support their participation in Leadership Wayne.

Wayne America Inc. and the University of Nebraska Extension facilitate the 8-month course (September to April), which covers a wide range of topics including: Communication, Demographics, Education, Entrepreneurship, Government, Personality Strengths, and Ways to Get Involved. Leadership Wayne was established in 2009, and over 65% of the 292 LW Alumni are living and working in Wayne America.

Who should participate in Leadership Wayne?

- Emerging leaders who want to learn to work together for common purposes.
- Individuals who want to expand their leadership skills for on-the-job applications and personal growth.
- Established leaders who want to build a new set of skills and relationships, and who want to maximize the impact of volunteers and community members.

How much does it cost to enroll in Leadership Wayne?

The enrollment fee for Leadership Wayne is $199 per participant.

Leadership Wayne Program Overview – Class 17 (2025-2026)

Session dates and topics are listed below, along with tentative times:
- Sept. 29, 2026 – Put your Strengths to work for you & your team (Normal session, 10:00a to 4:00p)
- Oct. 27, 2026   – Don’t be afraid of being Uncomfortable (Extended session, 7:30a to 5:30p)
- Nov. 17, 2026  – We are Wayne County! (Extended session, 8:30a to 4:00p)
- Dec. 15, 2026  – It’s beginning to sound a lot like Communication (Normal session, 10:00a to 4:00p)
- Jan. 19, 2027   – Should Entrepreneurship be forgot? (Normal session, 10:00a to 4:00p)
- Feb. 16, 2027  – ‘Capitol’izing our state Government (Extended session, 5:00a to 6:00p)
- Mar. 16, 2027  – Differing degrees of Education (Normal session, 10:00a to 4:00p)
- Apr. 20, 2027  – How to get Involved & Graduation (Short session, 1:00 to 5:00p; Dinner & Awards, 6:00p)
