What is Leadership Wayne?

Research has shown that the communities and organizations who invest in their people are the ones best positioned for growth, prosperity, and exceptional quality of life. Wayne America, Inc oversees the Leadership Wayne Program, which provides area businesses and organizations an annual opportunity to build up employees and community members via personal discovery, interpersonal development, and leadership training.

Wayne America, Inc. and the University of Nebraska Extension facilitate the 8-month course (Sept.-April), which covers a wide range of topics including: Communication, Demographics, Education, Entrepreneurship, Government, Personality Strengths, and Ways to Get Involved. Leadership Wayne was established in 2009, and over 70% of the 265 LW Alumni are living and working in Wayne America.

Who should participate in Leadership Wayne?

  • Emerging leaders who want to learn to work together for common purposes.
  • People who want to expand their leadership skills to apply on-the-job and for personal growth.
  • Established leaders who want to build a new set of skills and relationships, and who want to maximize the impact of volunteers and community members.

How much does it cost to enroll in Leadership Wayne?

The enrollment fee for Leadership Wayne is $199 per participant.

Leadership Wayne Program Overview – Class XVI (2024-2025)

Generally, sessions are held the third Tuesday of the month, September through April, from 10:00a to 4:00p, unless otherwise noted. Session dates and topics are:

  • Sept. 17, 2024 – Put your Strengths to work for you & your team (Normal session, 10:00a to 4:00p)
  • Oct. 15, 2024 – Don’t be afraid of being Inclusive (Extended session, 8:00a to 5:00p)
  • Nov. 19, 2024 – We are thankful for Wayne, America! (Extended session, 8:30a to 4:00p)
  • Dec. 17, 2024 – It’s beginning to sound a lot like Communication (Normal session, 10:00a to 4:00p)
  • Jan. 21, 2025 – Should Entrepreneurship be forgot? (Normal session, 10:00a to 4:00p)
  • Feb. 18, 2025 – ‘Capitol’izing our state Government (Extended session, 5:00a to 6:00p)
  • Mar. 18, 2025 – Differing degrees of Education (Normal session, 10:00a to 4:00p)
  • Apr. 17, 2025 – How to get Involved & Graduation (Short session, 1:00 to 5:00p; Dinner & Awards, 6:00p)
